My experiences of Social ( Physical ) Distancing in view of COVID-19

  1. 11th March,2020 - attended client interview in the afternoon for a support role in an MNC I work for ( I am an Assistant Software Engineer, trainee over there ) - didn't clear. I was disappointed in the interview panel as they ordered me to attend face to face interview though I had concerns regarding the ongoing pandemic as the news broke out that 2 people were found to be tested to be COVID +ve in the IT hub of Hyderabad, within 1 Km of my office.

  2. The above interview happened on Wednesday. Took a metro on the way to office, came back via sRide where the return journey costed me excess of 31/2 hrs due to heavy traffic.

Attended interview as I had no option, as I was dependent on office salary for survival.

  3. 12th March, 2020 - some more interviews, these thankfully happened on call. Didn't get selected though ( luckily in retrospection ).

  4. 16th March, 2020 - was the day when I last went to my office, to report to HR. Met a college friend and then came back to home by 3pm.

  5. 17th to 21st March, 2020 - resumed online learning of Web Development Boot Camp from Steele Colte on Udemy. Gathered some more information of COVID-19.

Some of the bizarre statements made by elected representatives in that week -

"Paracetamol cures COVID19"; "There is abundance of sunlight in India, we don't need to worry about this pandemic".

  6. It's about what the top CEO's of some of the popular startups have written to the Government of India regarding how to slow the spread of COVID19 in India (suggestions).

  7. Mother came to understand that there would be a lockdown like situation after Janta Curfew on 22nd March India wide(Sunday) only as late as 21st March, 2020 (Saturday). Brother and I were able to convince mother that it was pointless to go to marts as reports suggested there was huge rush in grocery shops => huge risk of contracting COVID19 got averted.

In this week, was able to go for a run in a nearby park on alternate days.

  8. 22nd March, 2020 - Day started well by spending 30 mins for sunlight in the morning.

A week lock down was announced in the state of Telangana as cases were on the rise.
Had this bad feeling of how to cope up the prospect of spending an entire week without going out for a run.

  9. 23rd March, 2020Standing in sunlight for Vitamin D routine continued.

Dad got irritated of spending 1 day at home, so he went in the morning in a contractor's car to the contractor's home. Fun part was police enforcement was good, so the vehicle couldn't cross the district borders. So, Dad came back to home in the evening.

Went along with brother in the evening to get groceries. Got into a bad argument with mother regarding the replacement items ( as popular brand items weren't there ).

  10. 24th March, 2020 - Did walking on terrace for 30 mins, followed by 15 mins direct exposure to sunlight. Completed checking CSS assignment my solution with the one mentioned by Steve.

    Created my first meme -

  11. The memes from @DavidAgStone on twitter were a great source of inspiration and relaxation to tackle these tough times of social distancing.

  12. Started watching the following web series on prime video - "The Man in the High Castle" completed 7 episodes in season 1 ; "Big Bang Theory" 5 episodes of season 1.

  13. PM of India Mr.Modi announces nationwide lockdown for 21 days starting 25thMarch to break the chain of COVID19 spread in India.

  14. 25th March, 2020 - Telugu new year Ugadi greetings to all.

Good thing about nationwide lockdown is the self professed Godman who exist mostly in India will be out of business on this day. The reason Indian universities aren't performing well in research in the scientific sphere is because Indians are conditioned to follow religions over the love of humanity. Political parties in India exploit the concept of religion to create unrest in the society, thereby clouding the judgment of common folk and benefitting themselves by winning over votes via cashing on the emotions.

One more Bernie meme for the time being.

  • 26th March, 2020 - Came across this interesting article on CNN of the situation of COVID-19 in a New York hospital where a nurse mentioned that patients were being ferried in and out of the ER ( Emergency Room ) akin to parking new vehicles in an already filled up space.

  • 27th March, 2020 - Went with my Mom in the morning to get vegetables from outside, took precaution of covering mouth and nose by a handkerchief.

  • 28th March, 2020 - Washed dishes in bulk for the first time in my life, felt good.

  • 29th March, 2020 - Wasted the whole day playing baseball 9 game on mobile.

  • 30th March, 2020 - Came across an email from office. Slogging at present to complete MFDM - AI  aware ( Machine First Delivery Model - Artificial Intelligence ) course by end of tomorrow.

Challenges-their consequences

Recently I self imposed a challenge on myself to stay away from facebook for minimum a year.
It's already been about 5 weeks since I de-activated my account.So,only 47 weeks more to go😉
What I wish to achieve meanwhile -
  • Reach to a level of decent level programmer.
  • Investing time in the group blog I am part of.
  • Use Quora as an alternative to know the things happening in the world.

Methodical routine of Engineering life

The usual assignments, classes continuously from 9:20 to 04:00  without emphasis on practical knowledge =>
1) 80% of current population are vitamin D deficient
2) Lost of respect towards faculty
3) Decrease in productivity at the work area.
